1. What is a shampoo/ conditioner bar?

      It is a concentrated shampoo/conditioner in the shape of a solid bar.

2. What do Kahalili's shampoo and conditioner bars contain?

Kahalili shampoo bars contain:

• Non-sulfate surfactants, Pearlizing agents (opacifiers), Conditioning agents, Thickening agents, Soothing agents, pH adjusters, Fragrance, Plant extracts/oils, and Colorants.

 

Kahalili conditioner bars contain:

• Conditioning agents, Thickening agents, Emulsifying agents, Soothing agents, Plant Extracts, and Fragrance.

3. Are they sulfate-free?

     According to Dr. Mara P. Evangelista-Huber  (@dermomtology), studies have shown that certain surfactants like Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or Sodium Laureth Sulfate have a higher potential to cause scalp irritations. Hence, sulfate-free products have a lower chance of causing skin reactions in the general population. We chose to have a sulfate-free formulation to cater to those with scalp sensitivity.

4. Do you test your products on animals?

    As part of our advocacy to care for the environment, we don't test on animals.

5. Are they paraben-free?

    Parabens are preservatives that prolong the shelf life of the product (usually less than 1% in formulation). It was also awarded by the American Contact Dermatitis Society as the non-allergen of the year in 2019. Despite it generally being tagged as a safe ingredient, some controversial studies show that it can cause hormonal imbalances or even cancer. None of Kahalili's products contain parabens. Hence, we are paraben-free.

3. Is it true that using shampoo and conditioner bars is better for the environment?

    Certainly! 1 kahalili shampoo bar is approximately equivalent to 1 bottle of 200 ml liquid shampoo. You will be able to minimize your plastic consumption since we utilize paper box packaging as well.

4. Is it necessary to apply a conditioner after I use a shampoo bar?

    Since your hair will most likely go through a "transitional phase", we suggest applying our conditioner bar after cleansing with our shampoo bar.

5. What is the average number of washes? 

    Our shampoo bars easily lather, so you only need a little per application. It can last up to 50-70 washes depending on hair length, thickness, and how well the bars are stored.

6. I have bleached/colored hair. Can I use your products? 

    If you have specific hair products in your routine like a purple shampoo, we don't recommend you replace them with our shampoo bars. However, you can still try to alternate both products. Use our shampoo bars for cleansing, and use a purple shampoo to maintain cool tones, for example.

7. How to use shampoo bars? 

• Wet your hair and the shampoo bar.

• Rub the bar between your hands to create a gentle lather.

• Tip: After rubbing the bar, set it aside. Apply more water to your hands & rub again to create more lather.

• Apply on your scalp & massage.

• Rinse thoroughly before applying the conditioner.

8. How to use conditioner bars? 

• Rub the bar between your wet hands to create a creamy lather.

• Apply to hair (roots to ends or mid-length to ends.)

• Tip: You can also directly apply the conditioner bar to your hair.

• Leave the conditioner on your hair for a few minutes before rinsing.

9. How should I store my shampoo and conditioner bar?
